Questions about Liberook

What is Liberook?

Liberook is a free online speed reader that shows text one word at a time, with the focal letter highlighted so your eyes don't have to move. It supports Spritz-style reading at 200 to 900 WPM, includes a classic paragraph reader, and uses AI to detect the genre of any text and adapt the reading palette to it.

Is Liberook free?

Yes. Liberook is completely free, requires no account, displays no ads, and stores no tracking data. Your library and reading progress live in your own browser via localStorage.

How does Liberook detect the theme of a text?

Liberook uses a fine-tuned sentence-transformer (mpnet) classifier trained on more than 1,200 webnovel chapters. It returns one of 8 narrative genres — action, adventure, comedy, emotional, fantasy, horror, sci-fi or suspense — and a confidence score, usually in under a second.

What file formats does Liberook support?

You can paste any text directly, or upload .txt, .pdf and .epub files. Liberook extracts the body text and starts reading at the speed you choose (200 to 900 WPM).

What is the Liberook daily challenge?

Every day, Liberook serves one short text in English and one in French. You read it at one of three speed ranks (Steady 400 WPM, Brisk 650 WPM, or Sprint 900 WPM), answer five questions about what you read, and your score lands on the daily leaderboard. One attempt per language per day.

Does Liberook work offline?

Yes for reading texts that are already in your library. Liberook is a Progressive Web App that you can install on iOS, Android, Windows and macOS. AI theme detection requires an internet connection.
